Im able to record into Pro Tools fine but I cannot get my computer to recognize the MBox as a valid hardwaresoundcard for my default recording.

Ive sent Digidesigns tech support this question but after 2 weeks have not heard a reply.

I want to use my MBox as an external sound card and have it recognized.

I was able to get it to do so on my Mac (osx) so surely this should work.

Both my built in sound card as well as my pci Echo Audio MIA are recognized, just not the MBox.

Does anyone know if its even possible to have my MBox as an external sound card on my PC Thanks.

I have all related updates for Pro Tools (WaveDriver, ASIO drivers and Pro Tools 6.4 update).

I can view the hardware in the Audio control panel for Audio PLAYBACK, but no where does it show up in Recording options.

The device is considered to be working properly but I cannot view it in the Windows Control Panel to set it as the default recorder.

I dont know if there are any additional drivers I should have installed.

I was able to install the MIA sound card effortlessly and have that card recognized in audio recording.

My only reason for comparing the two platforms is that after getting the MBox to be used for 3rd party applications on the Mac for recording, Im sure its possible to do the same on the PC with the right set up.

Thus far, I can only get the MBox to record IN Pro Tools on the PC.

No third party application can access it right now on the PC.

If it works with ProTools, it should work with any other application.

Have you tried removing the Mbox unit and see if it will work or even removing both the Mbox and the Dell sound card It may be some conflict with the other audio devices.

I have a Fostex VF160 that I use in my studio, tube mic preamps, etc.

Ill bring my MBox to work and see if I can install it there on a different, generic PC.
